Dear Nationals and Friends,
I trust that this message finds everyone well, healthy and safe.
The High Commission thanks you for your support during this pandemic, in every area in which you have offered it. We also continue to offer condolences to those who have lost loved ones to, and during, this dreadful period. Let us each continue to do our part to help mitigate the spread of this deadly disease.
I greet you today with a heavy heart, as I am sure you too, have been following the COVID-19 situation in our beloved homeland. We hope and pray that there is a break soon and that our brothers and sisters at home, like here, do what must be done to protect themselves and safeguard the lives of their loved ones.
In that vein, we have been exploring ways in which we can make a difference from here.
1. The COVID-19 Disaster Relief account is still activated, so anyone who wishes to donate into that account can do so.
Account number: 00584503
Sort Code: 30-92-83
Account Name: Grenada Disaster relief Fund
Bank: Lloyds Bank
2. Also, anyone looking to donate masks, gloves and other PPE, to aid in the fight against COVID-19 in Grenada, you can contact the High Commission to drop off and we will do our best to get them to Grenada.
3. Another very tangible way to assist is through volunteering with the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 hotline. I have spoken to the Minister of Health and I know the team is running ragged and is inundated with calls. Volunteers are needed to help accordingly. Given the time difference in the UK, it will be great to have a handful of volunteers who can give an hour or two in the mornings in the UK, so that those in Grenada can get a few hours of sleep, or whatever is deemed the best time, as decided between you and the health team. The exact details will be shared with the volunteers by the Ministry of Health officials, once you decide to assist.
Preference is to have at least two medical professionals (nurse or doctor), and any two other individuals. Everyone will not have to volunteer at the same time. The hotline gives prompts for different requests so the volunteers will be allocated accordingly.
Please contact the High Commission if any of you is interested in helping Grenada in this way, as we are in this critical new phase of this pandemic.
The High Commission continues to be available to support our Nationals here in the UK.
