GRENADA DISASTER RELIEF FUND ACTIVATED

Dear Nationals and Friends:

I trust this message finds you well. As the High Commissioner for Grenada, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support to the people of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique, especially during challenging times such as Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019. Your assistance has been invaluable throughout the years, and for this, we say thank you. Today, I reach out to you with a heavy heart as I’m sure you have been following Hurricane Beryl and the devastating impact on our beloved homeland. The category 4 hurricane caused significant damage to our infrastructure, homes, and livelihoods, leaving many of our citizens in urgent need of assistance, particularly on the sister isles of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Therefore, we once again call upon your support to aid the tri-island state of Grenada with the recovery efforts. Your generous support will help to rebuild our communities as we endeavor to heal from this recent disaster. The Grenada Disaster Relief Fund, an account housed at Lloyds Bank under the auspices of the High Commission, is a testament to our commitment to transparency and accountability. The account was established here in the U.K to assist with recovery efforts in the event of any national disasters in Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique. Persons wishing to make a financial donation to the recovery efforts can do so directly into the account. Any donation, however little, will make a meaningful impact.

As we continue to liaise with the Government of Grenada, we will circulate a detailed list of the items needed, and when and how these donations can be made. This is to ensure we are providing the items that are required, and that all efforts are directed to sourcing these commodities. The High Commission will also have a donation desk at Heritage Day scheduled for July 6th at Perth Road Playing Field, White Hart Lane, Wood Green, N22 5QJ. We will be prepared to accept financial donations there, and to provide additional information on the shipment of food and other items to Grenada. I encourage you to share this message as far and wide with anyone willing to support. Collaboratively let us all do our part to help rebuild our nation and assist our fellow Grenadians.
