Section 11 is used to confirm that the person appearing before the recommender is a true likeness of the passport applicant. The recommender’s role is to verify the applicant’s identity based on their appearance at the time of signing.
Section 11 is an identity verification step in the passport application process. It helps ensure that the person applying for the passport is correctly identified at the time of application and reduces the risk of identity misuse.
Important: The recommender (such as a lawyer or solicitor) is not required to personally know the applicant and does not need to have been acquainted with them for any specific period of time.
To complete Section 11, the recommender simply needs to:
- Complete Section 11 of the passport application form.
- Sign the declaration.
- Disregard the wording that refers to knowing the applicant “for ___ years.”

Having a Grenadian passport indicates your citizenship, but it does not confirm that you are formally registered as a citizen. These are two separate processes that serve different purposes.
Citizenship registration provides official recognition of your status in government records. It serves as formal documentation of your citizenship and may be required for certain legal and administrative processes.
Benefits include:
- Official Recognition: Provides formal proof of citizenship in government records.
- Children’s Citizenship Rights: Registered citizens by descent can apply for citizenship for their children under 18 years old.
- Enhanced Legal Protection: Offers stronger legal standing and clearer documentation for official processes.
