Grenada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Establish Diplomatic Relations, Marking a Milestone in South-South Cooperation

The Governments of Grenada and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan have officially established diplomatic relations as of May 23, 2025, marking a significant milestone in international cooperation and the expansion of bilateral engagements.

The agreement was signed in London on behalf of both governments, by Her Excellency, Rachér Croney, High Commissioner for Grenada to the United Kingdom, and His Excellency Manar M. Dabbas, Ambassador of Jordan to the United Kingdom. This signing reflects the growing importance of global partnerships and south-south corporation as Grenada seeks to deepen its diplomatic footprint within Asia and the Middle East. It opens promising pathways for cooperation in strategic areas across a variety of sectors such as tourism, education, agriculture and food security, renewable energy and climate resilience, trade and investment, health, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Jordan’s position as a commercial and innovation hub in the Middle East also presents invaluable opportunities to support Grenada’s sustainable development goals, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and digital technology. Meanwhile, tourism and culture present attractive avenues for cooperation and the facilitation of cultural diplomacy. This partnership underpins the commitment of both countries to strengthen global ties through dialogue, mutual respect, and shared development goals.

High Commissioner Croney stated, “The formalization of diplomatic relations with Jordan marks a meaningful step in Grenada’s foreign policy efforts to broaden international partnerships and deepen global engagement with partners who share our vision for socio-economic development. Jordan’s leadership in sustainable development, renewable energy, and regional diplomacy presents exciting opportunities for cooperation and we look forward to a dynamic relationship grounded in mutual respect and shared aspirations.”

Ambassador Dabbas echoed similar sentiments stating, “The establishment of diplomatic relations with Grenada reflects our shared values and mutual aspirations for peace, prosperity, and collaboration. We are confident that this relationship will pave the way for constructive engagement and fruitful cooperation across various fields, for the benefit of our nations”.

The signing of diplomatic relations between Grenada and Jordan emphasizes both countries’ shared values and a determination to contribute positively to the international community. It also reaffirms Grenada’s dedication to forging meaningful alliances that support economic growth, social development, and global solidarity.
